HIRO YAMAGATA
SPACE

The HIRO YAMAGATA SPACE management office is the headquarters of Hiro Yamagata, also known as Yamagata Hiromichi, who caused a global sensation in the 1980s with his astonishingly large use of over 300 colors in his artwork. Nearly half a century has passed since he left Japan and moved to California to pursue his international career. This is the only place in the world where you can experience his original drawings, which he continued to produce as California’s “Poet of color”, forming a colorful expression of what he felt during his daily life while in contact with California’s nature.

Comment from Hiromichi Yamagata himself

With respect and gratitude to everyone who loves my creations!!

Most of the works I have created have themes of ordinary everyday life, circumstances that usually go unnoticed, and things that we overlook. I am truly proud and honored to be able to display such works here in Shirokane on a regular basis. I am not sure where I will wander or where I will appear next, but no matter what happens, I intend to continue to rely on this place as Hiro Yamagata's place forever.
